I Hear the Spirit's Call

Is there still a chance that I may stand

Alone in time and facing God

Give up this insincere façade,

Renew the aspiring years of youth

And seek more deeply for the truth

Beyond which mind can understand,

Or have the hounds of sorrow bit

Too deep and desire still too strong

That I must count myself unfit

And to the lower realms belong.

Yet still I hear the spirit's call

And in the very flesh of me

Resounding music to enthral,

And bow my soul in humility
